This is a link that should direct you to a news coverage on a story about 20 high school seniors that weren't allowed inside their homecoming because their dresses were too "revealing."

I decided to choose this news segment because in a way, I believe that it does have something to do with fashion. The reason why they weren't allowed in their own dance because their school teachers or who ever wouldn't let them in have no type of fashion sense. I am not going to lie, some of those dresses were short, but have they not been in the Dillards, Macy's, JC Penny's, or Belks junior dress department? The last time I checked, every dress was either long as Repunzel's hair or shorter than the dukes that Daisy sports. This to me hits me straight to the heart because I know how much a decent dress costs, especially when its one-of-a-kind. As you heard from the coverage, these people paid over $500 for the entire package for their daughters last homecoming dance. There is a lot that goes into this package: homecoming ticket $30, BCBG designer shoes $198, customized dress from boutique $700, hair $115, makeup $30, mani/pedi $40+, spending money for dinner before and after dance $60, being shut out your own senior homecoming dance after spending butt loads of your parents cash that they may or may not have PRICELESS.
I would be highly upset if I was one of them and I would ask for an apology like they did too. They owe those girls a dance or something back because of their as P.Diddy, Sean Combs, Puffy or whatever name he goes by now-a-days "bitchassness". Just because their parents may not have allowed them to wear dresses like that doesn't mean that they have to take their anger out on these poor girls. Especially if someone was wearing the SAME EXACT DRESS as one of them and was let in the dance. Thats some flaw behind shiz right there (trying to refrain from using profane language). These people are ALL in the wrong and they know this. Thats why they keeping their lips sealed and the news folks didn't hear anything from them. America, tell me what you think about this situation. I would be so pissed I wouldn't know what to do. Shoot, its making me upset as I continue to type. I think that it is time to bring this blog to an end because the "crunkness" is begining to come out and there are a lot of red squiggly lines under a few of my "crunk" words. I guess these words are only in the goon dictionary, but thats fine because I do indeed own one. But that brings me to another tangent, but I am going to save this topic for my next blog followers. Thank you for taking time to read my post and I hope that you enjoyed what you took 10 minutes to read. More to come!

ReplyDeleteWow! I never heard of something like that happening, but this is a really interesting blog. Taylor, I think you said it all by naming all of the prices that the girls paid so that they could look fabulous at their homecoming. And if I was in that position, I would definitely be mad and want a refund. But that doesn't even compare to the fun memories that they loss because they were not able to take pictures with their friends who did make it inside or show off their expensive dresses. So-all-in-all, great article, but messed up situation.
